I Just Realized How Well “Spiderman 3″ Did in the Box Office
Posted on May 9, 2007

I know you’ve probably heard how well Spiderman 3 did in its first weekend. It made $148 million, shattered box office records, yada yada.
But I was taking a look at the Movies section of the MSN website that showed how the box office did in general. Spidey at #1 made $148 million. Disturbia, the movie that came in second made a whopping… wait for it… $5.7 million.

That means that Spiderman accounted for 85% of the total $174 million that the top ten films took in this weekend. That means that eeeevvvveerrryyyone went to see it. G-D!
I personally went to see it on Thursday at midnight because I was invited by a friend. I didn’t feel like writing a review then, and I still don’t now, but here are my opinions (I’m sure you have your own… you went to see it, right?):
I liked it, I was a bit disappointed in general, though. There were lots of new revelations that change the way the characters view things. The movie feels very spastic at times even though it is well put together. You get into one person’s scene/storyline and then it switches completely or then an action scene pops up.
The action scenes were great. Thank God for CGI.
The love story was… almost predictable, even when Peter did something to break MJ’s heart, you could still almost see it coming.
The ending was… basically predictable.
Harry (James Franco) looked high in any scene where he was not menacing and scowling.
Peter (Tobey Maguire) was just so dorky that it was almost cute.
Mary Jane (Kirsten Dunst)… needs to get acquainted with some spray tan. Her skin looked a little too porcelain…
Sandman (Thomas Hayden Church) was great, fit the part, perfect casting. Was thinking about adding him to the “Da Hotness” list because of the rippling muscles, but changed my mind, because his face looks extra face lifty…
Eddie Brock/Venom (Topher Grace) was great because Topher is very good at pulling off the arrogance needed for the role… plus… I heart Topher, so I was looking forward to it.
I didn’t like Bryce Dallas Howard as a blonde… in fact I didn’t realized who the heck she was until I realized who the character she was playing (Gwen Stacy) actually was.
Bruce Campbell as the Maître d’ made the 5-10 minutes of screen time that he had some of the funniest moments in the movie. Hands down… if you didn’t laugh, you have no heart… I’m kidding, but still, he will make you laugh…
J.K. Simmons (editor J.J Jameson) was pretty hilarious too…
Anyway… that’s it.
