Worlds AIDS Day
Filed Under Tayo Speaks, Spread the Word, AIDS Awareness

Today, like many around the world, we recognize Worlds AIDS Day in order to raise awareness of the HIV/AIDS pandemic. HIV/AIDS is a preventable disease, but an estimated 33.2 million people around the world – one in every 200 – are living with HIV, and daily 6,800 people are infected with HIV and 5,700 people die of AIDS-related illnesses. AIDS is still considered the leading cause of death in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Today and this week, do your part to stop the ridiculously high number of new HIV/AIDS cases. If you haven’t been tested, go do it. Visit http://www.hivtest.org to find a testing center near you.
If you have been tested, spread the word.
I am participating in “Black Blogging to End AIDS“, a blogging campaign to raise awareness, so there will be a more detailed post later on this week.
I would also just like to take a moment to send out my well wishes to the millions around the world, dealing with and affected by HIV/AIDS.
