Random Thoughts - December 11, 2007
Posted on December 10, 2007

I’m sitting in the lobby at the Westin Copley Place in Boston. You would think that I wouldn’t have to fight that hard to get internet access, especially since I’m here for a web design conference. But it seems the only way I can get any access is to be in the lobby.
My company decided that they only wanted to pay for the room (as is their right). And unfortunately, I managed to forget the only source of monetary liquidity (did I lose you? I mean, I left my debit/credit card at home and therefore I am assed out).
So therefore, I am not allowed to charge anything to my room even though they made me write out a $150 deposit (damn well better be refundable). The cleaning lady even came in and locked up my mini-bar… like I was really checking for a $3 bag of M&Ms anyway.
So, I’m sitting in the lobby, in my PJ’s, my hair in two messy ponytail braids, one sandal on and one off, trying to tune out the new-age music drifting from the lobby speakers and desperately trying to tune out the annoying pulsing and screeching of the techno coming from their “hip after-hours” lounge and hoping and praying that I don’t meet my future husband while looking like this.
All so I can access the internet…
