America’s Next Top Model Recap - Cycle 10, Episode 7
Posted on April 3, 2008
Whitney marvels about going from being called next to last 2 weeks ago to being called first last week and how she’s ready for a plus size model to win. Dominique says she can’t see Whitney winning this competition and that Whitneys is intimidated by Dominique because of her confidence and can-do attitude. Claire claims that the longer she stays the more she gets and the less she feels bad for abandoning her baby. The girls get a Tyra mail and Anya speculates that they might be going to Broadway. Dominique says that she’s sure she’ll do good on Broadway because her mother says that she’s a natural born talent.
(Thank you.)
Lauren and Fatima get into it at the house because Lauren poured out Fatima’s coffee (accidentally?) Fatima asks for an apology and Lauren launches into this tirade of swearing and pointing and middle-fingering (and I’m like “Huh?” Because the editors have been trying to paint this chick as a sweet, awkward thing… personally, I find the “angry” Lauren kind of funny).

At Elite, the girls meet with Karen Lee (Director of Scouting) and Kristy Hinze (an Elite model who had no real reason to be there). They tell the girls that they will be going on go-sees. The girls are split into two teams, given a GPS navigation phone (what up Sprint!) and are told that they won’t be allowed to take taxis.
Team 1 (Whitney, Claire, Stacey Ann, Dominique) seems to be fine with navigating, but Team 2 (Anya, Fatima, Kat, Lauren) seems to get lost (that’s because you let Anya, the new age hippie, take the lead).
SMH at Stacey’s shameless plug for the phones (you just know there was producer prodding her to do it from off-camera).
Team 1 arrives at Pamela Roland and Whitney states that she’s expecting the designers to not like her because they usually don’t cast for plus size models. Whitney is told that (at size 10!!!!!) she wouldn’t work for the runway even though she’s very pretty. Whitney gets a little upset but says it won’t get her too down. The next designer, Shoshanna Gruss, tells the girls that she designs for more body types. She clicks with Claire over their babies, but is off put by how forward Claire was. Back at Team 2, Lauren hopes that she comes off good for the designers and Fatima is told that she is way too small for Pamela (she’s a size 0). The teams meet back up at the 3rd casting for Alice + Olivia (Stacey Bendet). Ann Shoket from Seventeen magazine shows up to help announce the winners.
Team 1 was told that they lacked in personal presentation. Team 2 was told that they were lacking in personality and in their runway. Team 1 is the winner and Stacey Ann is the winner from the team. The prize is a spread for a summer shoot for Seventeen (oh my gosh, what is up with Dom’s missing tooth a la Amy Winehouse?)
At the photoshoot, we see Mr. Jay walking on a treadmill (Anya calls him a silver robot, I agree). People join him on the treadmill, bumping into him and falling off. Mr Jay then satrts running and then jumps through a Styrofoam wall. He tells the girls that that was a metaphor for them about how they need to break through the wall to the next level of modeling. Mr. Jay explains that what they saw was a sample from the off-Broadway show Fuerza Bruta and that it is the inspiration for the day’s shoot. The girls will be posing on a plastic (Mylar) sheet covered with water and will be photographed from beneath. They are also told that all the hair and makeup will be taken off.
Claire is first and hurts her neck when she falls onto the sheet (even though Mr. Jay tells her not to fall in). Dominique comes in while Claire recovers and gets good feedback. Lauren looks awkward for the first time in front of the camera. Kat gets her haircut. She is a bit upset because it’s new to her but quickly gets over it. Whitney was not afraid to smile and Fatima gets good feedback as well. After the shoot is over, the girls pile onto the sheet and splash in the water (I was waiting for it to fall…)
At judging, Claire was scolded for ignoring Mr. Jay’s advice; Stacey Ann was generally complimented for her picture but told her film showed that she had trouble with the shoot. I love that Ms. J called Kat “Neutrogena”. Whitney was told that she looked like a full figured fetus and Tyra told Whitney that her film blew her away. Dominique was praised for her shot; Lauren was told that her shot was her weakest. Fatima’s shot was graceful and beautiful and called the best of the bunch. But when Nigel asked her to give a graceful pose, she didn’t do it in front of the judges. Anya is told that her picture is Fierce (verbatim from Tyra: “H2-Oh-No-You-Didn’t-Guuuurll!”)
Holy crap, Claire wasn’t the CG of the week; Katarzyna stole the crown (for last week’s emo picture? Really?) And I love the new clean/dirty mouth commercial for Orbit Gum (I’m still not over “lint-licker”!) You can see it here: http://www.myspace.com/cheerfororbit.
Fatrima was called first and Anya was called second. Lauren and Claire were the bottom two. Claire was told that she is one-note in her pictures and needs more diversity. Lauren was called because she is one-note in front of panel and is still the same awkward Frankenstein-ish girl. Lauren is chosen to stay because the judges feel that there is something more to the awkwardness because she can take good pictures.
Next Week: Legal troubles for Fatima (and something else, I’m sure. My VCR – yes, VCR, shut up - cut off the last part of it…)

HELL YES!!! Thank you for putting the screen shot up of Dominique’s missing tooth!!!
It was too good not to post! But she’s done a good job of concealing it, so kudos to her.
