Saw this today and thought it was interesting. Apparently, the Earth makes noise. And it’s awful. Ear-piercing, in fact. It’s caused by the radiation in the Earth’s atmosphere (actually ionosphere) and is related to the from aurora lights.

And guess what, it’s loud enough so that if any aliens out there know how to listen out for these radio waves, they can find us (awesome, Independence Day, anyone?).
