Always a Bridesmaid…

Posted on August 6, 2008

Some of you might have seen me mention something about being a bridesmaid in my best friend’s wedding. I just wanted to show off my progress thus far. I’ve been procrastinating on getting it altered (not for any specific reason, just because I keep forgetting to bring my shoes with me).

Here’s what we have:
The Dress

The Front of the Dress

The Back of The Dress

Me. In the Dress.

The Shoes

Touch of Nina shoes

These are the shoes we(the bridesmaids) came to agreement on. Picture them in silver, though (for more views: Famous Footwear).

The Potential Hairdo
We’re required to have updos (good thing she told me because I was surely about to just curl it all up). I was thinking about attempting this style:

Beyonce Fighting Temptations premiere

after seeing this YouTube video on how to create it:

Also considering just braiding my hair and doing a braid updo. I like these styles:

(the first and third styles).

The Nails
French manicure and pedicure:

The Makeup
I dunno. Suggestions? Instructions?

The Total
I totaled up the cost of being a bridesmaid:
$150 for the dress (??? for the alterations)
$40 for the shoes
$50 for the hairstyle (if I get it done professionally. Free if I do it myself)
$40-50 for the nails ($10-15 if I work it out with some press-ons)

For a grand total of $180-190 at least. Relatively cheap in the scheme of some bridesmaid costs, but still.

Yeah, I like the color for the bride’s maids. Usually you only see light blues are more feminine colors, but that blue is pretty. The shoes are cute, and they aren’t too high. I usually don’t waste my time wearing crazy high shoes if they’ll be covered. Leave that agony for a knee-legth dress.

I like B’s hair style too. Post pictures please, I want to see the full outcome; i know you’ll look fab.

@Mimi - I love the dress, I didn’t know the sash was going to be beaded so that was a great surprise… I’ll try not to outshine the bride, I think she’s got some tricks in store

@Marleaux - The blue is gorgeous! I can rock high-heeled shoes, so I’m not too worreied… there is a time limti though so I will be sitting down as soon as possible. I’ll make sure to post pics. My mom wants to see them so I’ll def. be taking lots of pics.
