I tend to keep my personal politics to myself. Not for any real reason, I just have never felt the need to put them out there. But today’s climate, especially in the US, is so politically charged that I’m probably gonna have to start speaking on some things. I mean, the blog is AllTayo and Tayo is more than just silly little YouTube videos and random shit I find on the Internet, right (right??!?!)

So I’m not really comfortable in expressing my opinions about this stuff. Partially because I have this weird thing where I like to be right/correct when I speak. Like I won’t say something if I feel that it might be wrong or ignorant or that maybe I don’t have enough research/info on. Stupid, right? Yeah well, I’m working on it.

So, here’s part one. And we’re gonna start with one of the biggest names in politics right now:

Obama: The Great “Black” Hope, lol. He is the most controversial candidate we’ve had for a while. You kinda either love him or hate him. I’m not gonna go into the issues right now, but I skew closer to his views than to those of the Republican candidate (actually, I’m sure I’d probably be closer aligned with someone from one of the smaller parties, but let’s be honest, US elections are gonna be two-party for a while, anyway).

Can he make all the changes he’s promised? I think he might. In four years, though? Unlikely, but I think that he can move the country back into a more positive direction. Will he get to 8 years? I hope so. But the next four years are gonna be what gets him to the next four or counts him out for the next four.

Holding my breath, crossing my fingers (and my toes) for him though. How monumentous would it be for the US to have its first Black president? And also how scary would it be? I see all the vehement attacks about him all over the Internet, the news, yada yada. I think people may be scared of his potential. Like “Whoa. A Black man is the leader of one of the biggest superpowers in the world. What’s he gonna do?”

Okay, okay. Enough of my rambling. This post is already longer than I wanted it to be and I’m not even sure I said a whole of a lot. So let me know what you think. What are your opinions on Obama? Will you be voting for him or not?

Also, check out CEOTallahassee, a grassroots community service organization that I’m involved in. We do voter reg and voter education and other comm. service events around Tallahassee area. I plan to blog more about that too.
