Gosh, I miss blogging. I’ve got to get back to doing this! I’ve been AWOL for a sec, so I’ll give you all a quick update.
First up, check out the post on Whatever Happened to Skee-Lo if you missed it the first time around. I didn’t even know that I would get as much feedback as I have but, there’s a bit of FYI from a friend of his apparently (it’s an anonymous comment, so you may want to take it with a grain of salt, but who knows?).
Second, ANTM. I have really been slacking on my ANTM recap duties. *hides face in hands* I’m not sure I’ll be able to successfully keep it up, so I’m throwing the reins to Rich over at FourFour . He has some pretty interesting takes on the episodes, but it’s pretty amusing and I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.
I’m glad that Whitney is still there, not because I actually like her, but because I think she may have made it further than any plus-sized model on the show (correct me if I’m wrong!) So, she’s made Top Model history. I’m predicting Anya and Dominique/Fatima in the final two. I just have this nagging suspicion that Anya will make it to the top. But who knows, right? (And oh my gosh, I’m about to gauge my eyes out because I have “Farmer Wants a Wife” on in the background and it is one of the most inane shows I’ve encountered in a while and that’s saying a lot considering the state of TV/reality TV at the moment.)

America’s Next Top Model Recap - Cycle 10, Episode 8

America’s Next Top Model Recap - Cycle 10, Episode 7

Whitney marvels about going from being called next to last 2 weeks ago to being called first last week and how she’s ready for a plus size model to win. Dominique says she can’t see Whitney winning this competition and that Whitneys is intimidated by Dominique because of her confidence and can-do attitude. Claire claims that the longer she stays the more she gets and the less she feels bad for abandoning her baby. The girls get a Tyra mail and Anya speculates that they might be going to Broadway. Dominique says that she’s sure she’ll do good on Broadway because her mother says that she’s a natural born talent.

Lauren and Fatima get into it at the house because Lauren poured out Fatima’s coffee (accidentally?) Fatima asks for an apology and Lauren launches into this tirade of swearing and pointing and middle-fingering (and I’m like “Huh?” Because the editors have been trying to paint this chick as a sweet, awkward thing… personally, I find the “angry” Lauren kind of funny).

The big fight begins with Claire complaining about how Dominique sets her alarm to go off too early or too often. Dominique gets defensive but everyone tells her that she’s in the wrong.
Blah blah blah, Claire calls Dominique a bitch. Dominique asks if Claire calls her husband a bitch when they argue, Claire responds with “at least I have a husband” (oooh, snap!) Lauren tries to help out and Dominique tells her to “get in her place” and Lauren loses it, gets on the table and starts yelling, blah blah blah. Dominique ends up crying to her mom about how everyone is ganging up on her (because in her words, “she is so strong” in the competition).

Fatima says she’s shocked to be in the bottom two last week and is practicing to get better. Dominique talks about how she’s going to win the competition and I love the side eye that Stacey gives her.
Whitney says in her confessional that all Dominique does is talk, talk, talk. Claire says that Marvita is a hood rat, but there is a model inside.

The shows opens up with Dominique boasting about how her bottom two from the last week was the best bottom two because it was so intense (girl, bye - Tayo). Back at the house, Fatima is annoyed by the ball of hyperactivity that is Amis.
The girls get a TyraMail and are taken to a fire station. Ms. J, decked out in firefighter gear, tells them that they will participate in a firehouse runway lesson. They each have 90 seconds to change from their own clothes to the outfits provided for them. Fatima decided to keep her own shoes on (which were really cute by the way) and immediately gets reprimanded by Ms. J. The girls proceed to do their walks. Dominique says she has the best walk, Whitney says she knows drag queens that walk better than Dominique (where? I bet Dominique could out-stomp most drag queens out there, after she’s setting an example… that was kinda mean. Sorry.) Fatima’s walk, er Clydesdale march, makes Ms. J lose faith in her. Amis skipped, hopped, and jumped down the runway.

The girls receive white purses filled with Apple Bottom jeans (which Stacy Ann so wonderfully models by sticking her butt into the confession cam). Fatima comments that Allison has a apple bottom (I don’t see it, but…) and that Allison is bigger that her in general. Allison is offended, stating that she had anorexia and still struggles with it.
The girls receive a Tyra Mail for their challenge, which includes a 5 am trip to Wal-Mart. Umm, going to Wal-Mart in the middle of the night is what people do for fun in smaller cities anyway, so whatever. The girls are told that the challenge is to create their own CoverGirl look. Claire wins the challenge and is told her picture will be on the walmart.com CoverGirl page.

America’s Next Top Model Recap - Cycle 10, Episode 2

All right kiddies, it’s time for the second ANTM 10 recap. I know that the first one was a freaking dissertation, so we’ll keep this one much shorter. Ready? Here we go.
First off, I like the new theme music. It’s very stripped down from the previous versions and more staccato.
Anyway, the girls arrive in NYC. Amy changed her name to Amis to avoid the confusion between her and the other Aimee. They are taen to their NY loft with pictures of Tyra and the previous ANTM winners except for Adrianne Curry (cycle 1). Apparently the theme of the house is to find your passion and figure out how to apply it to the real world. How they arrived at that, I have no idea. Atayla mentions that she is homesick because she’s never been on her own. Despite the big “No Smoking” signs on the doors of their loft, Fatima, Amis and Kimberly go out and smoke. Fatima upsets Amis by calling her a clown. It looks like they might be setting Fatima up to be a Jade (Cycle 6) or Lisa (Cycle 5) type character who pisses off the girls by pointing out their flaws.

The episode begins with a quick recap/countdown of all the events that have gone down in Top Model history, from the cat fights, makeovers, runway spills, etc.
The show begins and we see the 35 semi-finalists on a school bus. Marvita discussing her past experience with ANTM and how she wasn’t ready for to be on the show then but she is now.
The girls are lead into a courtyard. The Jays come out and the girls lose their minds. One of the many scream-fests to come this episode, I assume. Mr. Jay explains that they are the top 35 contests and have been chosen to attend Top Model prep (scream). Shaya, humble thing that she is says she’s excited to be in Top Model school because she studies fashion and likes to create beauty because she is beautiful.
Uh. Huh.

Okay, ANTM 10 starts tomorrow and I’ll be doing weekly recaps so if you are an ANTM fan or even if you aren’t come on by and catch up with Tyra and the girls.
I can already tell you that I am excited to see Marvita back. If you guys don’t remember her, she was one of the would-be models that was cut right before the final thirteen of Cycle 9. I’ d love to see how she does in the competition.
